Michele Selene Ang is a Chinese-Indonesian-American actor & writer. She was born in Surabaya, raised in the Bay Area, educated in New York, and is currently based in Los Angeles.
A little about me; after graduating from the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, I became a National YoungArts Foundation winner and a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, then moved to NYC to obtain my BA in Theatre Performance from Fordham University.
My acting work can be found on Netflix’s hit drama 13 Reasons Why and CBS’ Elementary. Theater & independent cinema are my heart; I gravitate towards contemporary, personal stories and collaborating with innovative female writers.
Through my professional life so far, I’ve originated lead roles in new plays at venues like Lincoln Center, Yale Rep, and East West Players. On the film side, I am deeply influenced by the masters of East Asian cinema, specifically those of the Taiwan/Hong Kong New Wave. I’m well suited to; dark comedies, explosive dramas, high satire.
As a writer & filmmaker, I’ve worked on several short films through my production banner; February Face. We are developing more narrative shorts as well as my feature directorial debut.
When I’m not memorizing lines or tapping away at my laptop—you can find me at your local bookstore devouring the latest novels. Or maybe at the movies, or in the ramen section at H Mart, but definitely daydreaming about sipping an ice cold teh botol on a rooftop in Jakarta.
